The Best Time to Visit Lake Harmony: A Season-by-Season Guide

Lake Harmony on a sunny summer day, a strong case for the best time to visit Lake Harmony

So, when is the best time to visit Lake Harmony? The honest answer is: it depends what your group wants. This corner of the Pocono Mountains is a true four-season destination, and our homes are set up to make the most of every one of them.

Winter (December to March): ski season

Winter is Lake Harmony’s headline act. With Big Boulder just 5 minutes from both homes and Jack Frost close by, it’s the dream setup for a group ski trip. Days on the slopes, evenings in the hot tub under the trees and a stone fireplace to come home to. Holiday weeks fill early, so plan ahead.

Best for: ski groups, New Year celebrations, winter birthdays.

Spring (April to May): quiet and green

Spring is the Poconos’ best-kept secret. The crowds thin out, the woods turn green and the waterfalls run full. It’s a great season for hiking at Hickory Run State Park, rafting on the Lehigh River once the season gets going, and reunions that want a bit of peace and quiet.

Best for: family reunions, relaxed get-togethers, flexible dates.

Summer (June to August): lake life

Summer is all about the water. Both homes include lake access, so your days can be as simple as swimming, paddling and lounging by Lake Harmony. Add in mountain biking, rafting and race weekends at nearby Pocono Raceway, then finish with cookouts and s’mores around the fire pit.

Best for: multi-family vacations, kids out of school, milestone celebrations.

Fall (September to November): foliage season

Fall might be the most beautiful time of year in Lake Harmony. The surrounding hills light up with red, orange and gold, usually peaking in early to mid-October. The Pocono Mountains visitor bureau publishes foliage updates through the season. Take a scenic train ride from Jim Thorpe, hike the trails or simply watch the colors change from the deck with a hot drink in hand.

Best for: friends’ weekends, anniversaries, photographers.

Our take on the best time to visit Lake Harmony

If you want guaranteed action, come in winter or summer. If you want the area at its prettiest and quietest, aim for fall or late spring. Whatever you choose, there’s room for everyone, with eight bedrooms in each home and the option to book both for groups of 30 or more.

Booking tips by season

  • Winter holidays: Christmas, New Year and Presidents’ Day weekend are the busiest weeks of the year. Book several months ahead.
  • Summer weekends: July and August fill early with families. Midweek stays can offer more choice.
  • Race weekends: Big events at nearby Pocono Raceway bring crowds, so check the calendar before you pick dates.
  • Fall foliage: October weekends are popular with friends’ groups and leaf-peepers. Aim for early booking.
  • Spring: The most flexible season, and a good choice if your group’s dates are still taking shape.

Weather at a glance

Lake Harmony sits at elevation, so it’s usually a little cooler than the cities. Winters are cold and snowy, summers are warm but rarely sticky, and spring and fall bring crisp mornings and mild afternoons. Pack layers whenever you come.
